45/52: A Weekly Photo Series

Nothing ages a kid quite like a new haircut.

I took Tory and Aden for haircuts this week. For Aden, it'd only been six weeks (turns out, the rumor of boys' haircuts is true ... their hair grows like weeds!). For Tory, it'd been since summertime and she probably could've lasted longer but her hair started to turn straggly at the ends.

A fresh haircut feels good whether you're (almost!) two, four or 34...

What is it about babies and birthdays? They seem to grow by leaps and bounds in the weeks leading up to their special day. Suddenly, this boy of mine seems very two-years-old. (Weep!)

Tory tells me this is her "school picture smile" ... I can't wait to find out what that really means when her school photos are in next week.

No teeth? Still cute, just the same.

Can't believe how curly her hair became with the trimming of her ends! Guess there's still a little baby hidden away no matter how much they grow...

Aden's First Haircut

I promised the grandmas I'd let his hair grow until age two, but I just couldn't do it.

I loved Aden's blond curls as much as the next person, but the change of seasons and lack of humidity in the air turned his head of hair into a straggly mess. A few weeks ago, Aden was sick with an ear infection and he and I spent a lot of time snuggling in the rocking chair. His disheveled hair kept tickling my face as I held him and it was so annoying! A few days later at the park, I snapped a photo of Aden and didn't love what I saw on the back of my camera. It was time for a haircut.

Tory, Aden and I left the park right then and drove to the nearby kid's hair salon before I lost my nerve. I knew Aden was going to have a FIT when someone tried to cut his hair, so I threw the iPad and a couple of Dum Dum suckers into my purse for back-up.

Sure enough, Aden FREAKED OUT the minute I lifted him into the chair. I figured the stylist would be annoyed with us because the store was closing in 20 minutes, but she was very sweet with him. I comforted him / held him down in the seat while the stylist worked as quickly as she could.

I would've loved to take a few pictures with my real camera, but that wasn't going to happen. Too chaotic! So, I pulled out my iPhone and snapped a few one-handed photos like any loving mother would.

Aden was MAD, and continued to cry during the entire 20 minute appointment. Tory stood in front of him and tried to comfort her brother the best she could by holding his iPad in view and singing songs to him. Nothing worked; not Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, not a sucker, not a sweet big sister.

Later, I brought the kids home and tried to get a few "after" photos of Aden's hair to send to Andi who was traveling for work. Aden was completely against the idea, and cried every time I tried to remove him from my arms.

You'd think I made him eat Brussel sprouts. A haircut -- the horror!

Before / After

The cosmetologist styled Aden's hair into a faux-hawk at the appointment, but I haven't brushed it that way since. It's cute, but requires too much effort on my part in the mornings. Most days, he rocks a wake-up-and-wear-it hairstyle.

I loved Aden's curls, but I also think his shorter hair is adorable. Andi wasn't a big fan of his longer hair in the first place, so he was thrilled. And, the grandmas are coming around ....

Quick Takes: Purging All The Things; Sleep; Hair; Summer & Milestones

1. I've devoted every ounce of my free time this week to The Great Purge of 2015. A huge spring cleaning bug bit me hard and nothing in our house is safe. I was tired of cringing each time I opened the storage room door, or my bedroom closet for that matter. Now, I'm riding the high of organization in our home.

Purging *stuff* comes easy for me. Don't need it. TOSS. Haven't worn this in a while. GONE. I purged at least 50% of the clothes in my closet, cleaned the refrigerator top-to-bottom and spent an entire afternoon sorting through 16 totes of girl's clothing in the past two weeks. (I still have 10 totes of boy's clothes to go through.) It feels amazing to see a space once cluttered with items now clean and orderly.

Though, I'm quickly learning finding a new home for all our unwanted clothing, household items and baby gadgets takes devotion. I equate it to doing laundry: washing, drying and even folding aren't the hard parts for me; it's the actual putting away of the laundry that takes the most effort. I could do load after load of laundry during the day but unless I put the clothes away in their correct places, it's only transferring chaos from the hamper to the top of the bedroom dresser.

Of course, dropping items off at a donation center is easy enough -- just drive up and toss everything in a bin -- but for some reason, knowing someone else would benefit and enjoy our gently used items (specifically baby things) made liquidating items a much easier pill to swallow.

First, I decided to give consignment stores and the local Facebook garage sale site a try and I'm here to proclaim -- those venues are a true test of time and patience. It's no easy feat loading up the car and driving to a consignment store, then hauling everything inside with two little kids in tow. Some stores let you come back the same day to collect your items and/or money earned, but that means 2+ trips in one day. As any parent knows, it's asking a lot to make multiple stops anywhere in one day with kids along. I can't decide if the Facebook garage sale site is much better. I can meet someone in a parking lot and transfer my sale items without removing the kids from their car seats, but all the back and forth with buyers about meeting times, price haggling and no-shows are quite maddening. A friend on Instagram suggested donating baby items to a pregnancy and family resource center in South Minneapolis, so I finally did. I love that my gently-used baby things will breathe new life with someone who really needs them. A much better solution than being piled up in our basement, that's for sure.

2. News flash -- Aden still wakes up most nights. Not breaking news? It's been on-going for 17 months now? Heh. Typically, he wakes up around 2:00am every night and if I give him a few ounces of milk he'll go right back to sleep. I know he's capable of sleeping through the night at his age, but it hurts my heart to hear him cry ... especially when I can so easily make him stop and everyone can go back to sleep.

Two nights ago, Aden cried at 9:30pm, 12:30am and 2:00am. Tory called out shortly thereafter to use the restroom. I'd set my phone's alarm for 3:30am when I mistakenly thought Andi requested the wake-up time for his 6:00am flight. The alarm woke us both up at 3:30am and Andi asked me to reset it again for his correct wake-up time of 4:30am. I woke up when the alarm went off at 4:30am, and once more when Andi left the house at 5:00am. I couldn't fall back asleep after that, so I finally got up for the day at 5:45am. I AM TIRED.

That night was my breaking point. This has got to stop! It's time to sleep train Aden. His poor sleep habits are wreaking havoc on our entire family's daily life. I'm wide awake after his "usual" 2:00am wake-up many nights, and I cannot keep functioning on such broken sleep. I mean I can, I've been doing it for years now, but I no longer want to. My husband's been singing that tune for years...

Andi dangled a trip to Paris (all the heart emojis! and croissants! and wine!) in front of me if I'll sleep training Aden while he's traveling one week. It sounds dramatic, but I think he's serious. And, I mean, Paris! For that, I guess I can do anything. (If only Andi had realized sooner I was so easily motivated by carbs and wine).

So, Operation: Teach Aden to Sleep starts now.

3. Semi-related -- Aden's walking! He's really, truly walking now! Aden's known how to walk for a while now (for 6 weeks at least?), but always defaulted to moving around on his knees. It was the safer and reliable choice, I think. In the last two days though, Aden's been standing up and actually walking from place to place. Indoors and outdoors; in public places like down the hallway of Tory's preschool and between furniture in the comforts of home. I'm so proud of him! (And secretly wiping the sweat off my brow; looks like he won't be knee-walking off to college someday.)

4. I started running outside again. It's only been two days so I'm not demanding a gold star or anything, but I'm proud of myself for getting out there and doing it. It's no small feat pushing 54 pounds of children + a 32 pound stroller while I do it! I never thought I'd say this, but I actually enjoy running outdoors. It's refreshing to be in the sunshine and fresh air, and it gives Tory, Aden and I something to do together. Tory calls them "fun runs" and we stop at the park afterwards so they can run off some wiggles of their own, and I can catch my breath (ha!). It's a win/win for everyone.

5. I got a haircut last week, and I hate it.

My hair was the longest it'd been in a while, dusting past my shoulders. I scheduled a cut and color at the same salon I've gone to for years, but with a new-to-me stylist. She was the only slot available in the window of time I had available and how terrible could she really be I wondered?

I settled into the salon chair and showed her a picture of my vision. I asked for a new shade of color similar to my own, just a bit warmer, and an inverted bob haircut. It's a bit edgier than my usual style, but since my hair was longer than normal I thought it'd be a good time to go for it.

The lady worked on my hair forever. "A little bit more," I kept telling her. "No, more inverted like the picture," I repeated. Finally after a full three hours at the salon, I told her to wrap it up because I needed to relieve my babysitter. I knew the minute I walked out of the salon it wasn't my best cut, and that's an awful feeling when you a) spent a sizable chunk of money, and b) should walk out of any salon after an appointment feeling beautiful.

Later at home, I noticed an entire section of hair below my left ear was longer than the rest of the bob. I attempted to brush and style it a few different ways to see if the piece was truly longer or just some weird crimp. Nope - longer. A few days passed, real mom-life kicked in, and I went bug-eyed in the mirror every time I'd catch a glimpse of my hair. Not only was my hair a little longer in one spot, but the tips of the inverted bob looked like wings sticking out from my ears when I'd tuck my hair behind them. That was to no fault of the stylist; just the nature of the haircut I'd requested. I called the salon and asked for another appointment to fix the stylist's mistake in missing a section of my hair, and thought she could even out my inverted bob during the same visit.

She did, and now I have a regular / average / nothing special / short bob haircut. This Jenny McCarthy style is the cut I usually wear, but now my hair's length is too short to achieve it. Sigh. I think what I really wanted was an edgy, textured bob and now I have to wait a few weeks until my hair grows enough to get there.

Alright -- it doesn't look that bad in this photo, but trust me. It's very meh.

6. Summer's a few weeks away, and I'm excited! I know some parents stress about having their kids home every day, but I love the un-structure. I signed Tory and Aden up for swimming classes one weekday morning. Otherwise, I'm keeping our calendar open for plenty of play dates at the park, picnics, free summer concerts and trips to the zoo. The kids and I are traveling to Nebraska to visit my family one week, and I'd love to squeeze in a trip to Kentucky to visit my friend Lindsey if time allows. Andi's traveling a bunch this summer and even that isn't getting me down. Bring on the sunshine, warm weather and cabin life! It's my favorite time of the year.

7 Quick Takes: Dairy, Sleep, Cabin Updates, First Haircut

1. Well, I'm back on the dairy train. That didn't last long. I cut dairy last week, then re-introduced it with some cheese over the weekend and it didn't seem to affect Aden either way. Now, I'm thinking the pediatrician was probably right and Aden's skin irritations are caused by the dry air / cold weather. I've been diligent about applying lotion several times a day and Aden hasn't had any skin rashes or redness since the one incident at the beginning of last week. See, this is what parenting's like inside my head. I go back and forth on topics until I've hashed them to death. Is the rash from something I'm eating? Is he getting enough to eat? Is there something I'm missing? Maybe it's not a big deal at all? Gah.

2. Dare I say we're moving in the right direction re: sleep in our household? It's been a tough month(s) in the sleep department with multiple wake-ups from Tory and Aden every night. Andi started sleeping downstairs in our spare bedroom so he could be semi-functional at work during the week and giving me extra time on the weekends to catch up. Our family's entire method of function was off-kilter from lack of sleep. There was a gray fog cast on every aspect of life. Luckily, things seem to be on the up-swing and Aden's pulled a few 3-4 hours stretches at night which isn't perfect but feels heavenly in comparison to the previous few weeks. Best of all, I don't feel like stabbing someone at every waking moment. The world moves on.

3. Andi's mom has been babysitting the kids on Sunday evenings and it's been wonderful. We're often driving home from the cabin on Sundays and since her house is on the way, she's offers to keep them for a couple hours from the time we drop them off until bedtime. One week, Andi and I ran to the Apple Store together (something I loathe doing alone when I have the kids) and two weeks ago, Andi went to dinner with friends while I shopped and went to a coffee shop alone. This past Sunday, we celebrated Easter with Andi's family and his parents offered to keep Tory overnight. It is such a breath of fresh air to have a break at the end of the weekend and to start the week with a fresh slate. So thankful for that.

4. We amped up to a new level of redneck at the cabin this past weekend: Andi bought car seats for the Ranger ATV so we can take family "truck rides" together. Driving around the countryside is one of our favorite things to do on the weekends. Now the kids are safe and secure inside the Ranger and I just feel so much better about taking them on trails and country roads. Excited for it to warm up a bit around here so we can all get out there.

Andi and Tory out for a 'truck ride" this past weekend

5. We're hoping to do a few cabin remodeling projects before summer officially begins in Wisconsin. Last fall, we replaced the appliances and added a sauna and outdoor shower. This spring, we're hoping to update the countertops with granite and put in new flooring on the middle level to replace some mis-matched carpet. Excited to see how it all comes together. All I can think about when I watch TV or flip through magazines these days is back-splashes, cabinet colors and countertops.

6. We also bought a canoe for the cabin. Andi has grand plans to take family canoe trips this summer on a few of the rivers by the cabin. We did one on Father's Day last year and it was really fun, but it was bit challenging with a constantly-moving toddler. I held onto Tory most of the time while Andi paddled us the length of our trip down the river. Our new canoe has a trolling motor, so problem solved! We'll just turn on the motor and zoom down the river when Andi doesn't feel like paddling his entire family in a canoe! Wish us luck canoeing this summer with two small children. Life's all about the adventure, right?

7. Aden got his first haircut this morning. I'm still somewhat embarrassed / shocked I let a hairstylist come near my baby boy's head with a pair of scissors, but Aden's hair was seriously out of control. There were some very long baby hairs on the top of his head and a few random ones sticking out the sides. Elsewhere, Aden has peach fuzz just starting to grow in so I thought it'd be best to even it all out. Tory, Aden and I were at the kids salon for Tory's haircut, so I politely asked the stylist to clean up Aden's hair a bit, too. She snipped away the long hairs on top and gave me a baggie with his tiny blond strands. People probably thought I was crazy, but oh well. He really does look better.

First Haircut

I took Tory to get her very first haircut on Friday. To say I was anxious about it would be an understatement. I was nervous to lose her precious baby curls in the back of her head and worried she'd have a giant meltdown while positioned in the stylist's chair. If last week's attempt at getting her passport photo taken at Wal-greens would be any indication, I had a one in a million chance of her actually sitting nicely.

If it were up to me, I would've let Tory's hair continue to grow and never cut her darling baby hairs. After spending some QT with Tory during our trip to Savannah last week, Andi thought Tory needed a haircut and heavily hinted that I should take her in for an appointment. Her hair was getting a bit unruly and her bangs especially were constantly hanging in her eyes despite my every attempt to clip them back or pull them up in pigtails. So, Andi was probably right; a haircut was necessary.

First, I did a little online research for haircutting places in my area. I thought about taking her to my hair stylist, but honestly I don't love my lady. I keep going back to her because she does a nice job on my hair but her personality is super awkward and I can't imagine her being all that comforting to Tory. I found a kid's haircut place called Snip Its in the next suburb over and decided to give it a try. If anything, I thought the atmosphere might make Tory feel at ease with toys to play with and other kids waiting in the lobby area.

I timed our haircut trip to be directly after nap time so Tory would be in good spirits. Initially, I wasn't impressed with the salon as the receptionist was practically falling asleep at the check-in desk and had the personality of a Kleenex box. The salon had suckers for the kids and Tory was perfectly happy having that as a special treat and playing with the toys. I, on the other hand, was a ball of nerves as we waited our turn.

Finally, one of the stylists called us back to her station. The lady was super friendly and asked if this was Tory's first haircut. She placed a Bumbo chair within the stylist's chair so she'd be nice and secure. As soon as I sat Tory down, she began to pucker her bottom lip and tears filled her eyes, so the stylist handed me a container of bubbles and encouraged me to blow bubbles at Tory for a distraction. This worked perfectly and soon enough Tory's haircut was almost complete. No tears! No drama! Tory ate her sucker and watched the bubbles while the stylist trimmed up the uneven parts of Tory's hair in the back and trimmed her bangs. The lady saved a few of Tory's baby curls for me and even gave me a certificate for her first haircut which I thought was a very cute gesture.

Tory's first haircut

All done! What a brave little cutie.

Suddenly my little baby isn't such a baby any longer. I'll admit, Tory's hair does look a lot better now that her hair isn't hanging in her eyelashes and the back of her head is trimmed in style. I don't know what it is lately but Tory looks the part of a toddler to me now. A few months ago, I couldn't imagine her turning two years old and now I see the transition happening before my very eyes. She is growing up!

Miss Attitude

Fortunately, Tory's curls remained in tact after her haircut, and if anything they're more prominent now that they've had a fresh trim. I'm curious to see how her hair changes in the next year as summer approaches and the sun lightens it, or as her hair grows and her face changes from baby to toddler to preschooler. Right now, Tory's hair is light brown with warm auburn / red accents depending how the light hits it. Will it become darker as she ages like mine or turn more reddish-brown like her Auntie Lindsay? Only time will tell ....

Hair Remorse

OK, I think I made a BIG MISTAKE when I cut my hair last Saturday. While I don't particularly hate my new hair, it's obvious to me that everyone else does. I know this because people are ignoring the fact I got my hair cut and the change to my entire appearance is blatantly obvious. Hear me out on this one ...

You know when you get a slight trim in length and a girl at work always makes a comment about it? (Every office has one of these girls, by the way, so I know you know what I'm talking about). Office girl notices the slightest change in appearance on every single person and she has said nothing to me about my new bangs this week. NOTHING. This one very non-scientific test confirms it: my new haircut look horrible on me. GAH.

I've always had a very straight, simple hair style for as long as I can remember. It was a big deal when I chopped my long locks into a short bob a few years ago, and people who were used to seeing me everyday (co-workers, family, friends) commented about the change as you'd expect them to. There were a few guys around the office back then who made the typical "ah, you cut your long hair" comments to me but I expected a few of those. Most guys seem to mourn the loss of long hair when a woman cuts hers short. Typical. But for no one to say ANYTHING about this drastic hairstyle change? I feel embarrassed and very self-conscious.

There was one male co-worker who actually did say something to me about it yesterday. As he walked into the room where I was standing, he stopped in his tracks, smirked and shook his head sideways in disapproval. KNIFE TO THE GUT. I won't lie, it really hurt my feelings. It's not that I really care what this person thinks about my hair or even think he has a leg to stand on in his own style, but I was still offended. It really hurt my feelings and I couldn't shake the funk all afternoon.

Andi came home from his week-long business trip last night. My own husband didn't say anything to me about my hair for two hours. He never gave it a second look (which only made me feel worse about all of this) until finally out of the blue he said, "I can't decide if I like your new haircut. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I don't." Well, at least he's honest.

What can I do about it now? Nothing. I have bangs. They may or may not look like crap on my face. The fact of the matter is, I'm stuck with them now. I write this confession of feelings to the Internet not for comforting back rubs which tell me it's not really that bad or it'll grow back out eventually. I just feel like dog poop about myself (worse that I did last week BEFORE THE HAIRCUT that was suppose to fix the bad feelings about myself!) and I just needed somewhere to say it. There, I said it.

Did it...

Snip, snip, snip ...

Bangs!!

Blah, Argh and Grrr....

I've been having a hard time the last few weeks. I can't tell if it's the change in seasons, a sudden drop in hormones as I weaned from nursing, Andi's traveling away from home or all of the above but I haven't felt like myself lately. I'm all over covered in blah.

Does anyone else have a hard time transitioning from winter to spring/summer clothes? While I don't particularly enjoy winter weather, there's something comforting about sweaters and jeans and coats. It's easier to hide flabby arms, pale skin and a flubby tummy behind layers and scarves. Now that our Minnesota weather has turned unseasonably warm so quickly, I find myself struggling to fit into my pre-baby spring/summer clothes because let's face it, my body is no longer in its pre-baby shape. I'm not necessarily bigger, just different. Plus, this wardrobe is from two years ago since I mostly wore maternity clothes in 2011. Oh, and did I mention most of my warm weather clothes are MIA? Last year I packed away my summer clothes because I was wearing maternity and didn't have the closet space to store them in our tiny old house. Somewhere in the move last summer, the tote apparently was misplaced (or didn't make the move?) because I can't find those clothes anywhere. I have a handful of shirts, of which all are skin-tight. Why did pre-baby me like to wear things so figure-flattering? GAH.

I know a shopping trip would likely cure this funk I'm in, but I'm having trouble finding anything flattering on my now flabby stomach and giant boobs. Also? Buying an entirely new wardrobe costs money and there's the whole part about finding TIME to shop. I wish there was a service like Trunk Club for women. I would pay serious money for someone to do the shopping for me. Well, not really. I don't actually have serious money but I'd love to pay someone in hugs and chocolate to pick out adorable new clothes that fit my figure perfectly and deliver them directly to my closet.

I'm sure some of this blah feeling definitely has something to do with hormones. I'm also sure it'll pass eventually like every blip in pregnancy and parenting does. I thought getting a new hairstyle might help lift my spirits so I made a spur-of-the-moment appointment on Thursday and walked out with new side-sweeping bangs.

Good idea when my hairstylist is there to style the look for me. Bad idea when I'm now at home and forced to DO SOMETHING with these newfound side-sweeping bangs that basically look like short layers. GAH. I'm now considering going back to the salon to have her change side-sweeping bangs into full cover-the-forehead bangs. Although, I'm not sure cutting my hair even shorter is a good idea if I can't figure out how to style it now.

Just a barrel of fun over here, aren't I? I guess I just needed to brain dump on someone and Internet, YOU WIN! Maybe I also wanted to see how many times I could say BLAH, ARGH and GRRR before it's overkill. Too much? You can tell me.

In Hair-y Trouble

My mom says she can always tell when I've done something she won't approve of. When I was in college, she said she knew when I got back together with an ex-boyfriend she didn't like or I didn't follow up on a request she'd asked me to complete. And how did she know?

She says I stop calling home, and I think she's right. I've been avoiding calling home all weekend.

Don't freak out, Mom, but I cut my hair again. I know you won't be pleased.

Okay sure, I'm 29 years old so I can make a decision as simple as getting a haircut without my mom's permission. But you see, there's something about moms and how they're always right. I should've listened to her.

Late Thursday night, I got a wild hair (pardon the pun) and decided I'd had enough of the awkward, middle stage my hair was in. I've been trying to grow it out for a few months now and it had reached just below my shoulders. My hair looked frumpy and unshapely. I called and made a hair appointment for the following evening. My hair stylist tried to convince me to keep it long and go with blunt bangs instead, but I told her no. I wanted to go back to the cute, short haircut I'd had for a year before.

And now I'm sorry I did it. Dang it! Why are moms always right? I don't like my new haircut at all. I thought at least Andi would like it (because he likes my hair shorter) but he didn't even notice! When he came home from his business trip yesterday he said to the dog "Chloe, I like your haircut." Yep it's true, Chloe did get a haircut last week ... BUT SO DID YOUR WIFE! In his defense, he finally noticed last night.

Well, what can I do now? Nothing but start the long process of growing it out all over again. Next time Mom, I'll listen to you. Promise!

Hair Envy

It's not the first time I've said this ... and sadly for you, probably not the last.

I've decided to grow my hair out!

And this time, I'm really sticking to it. I have a case of "hair envy" since early summer and I think it's time I stick to it.  As silly as this sounds (ok, I know, it's really silly) my future hair goal is to have nice, beautiful, long hair when I'm holding my future newborn baby in the very first hospital photo. Don't get too excited - I said FUTURE newborn baby. Some girls dream of how they wear their hair on their wedding day; I guess I'm just a little different!

I set up a hair appointment for next week to re-shape my hair in the growing out stage. I'm thinking of styling it like this for now (but chocolate brown instead of blonde) ....

I want Kristin Cavallari's hair style - not her attitude, by the way.

Eventually, I'm hoping for something long and layered, with a little bit of loose wave.
Like this ...
and EVENTUALLY this ...

Beautifully long, long locks.

You'd have thought I told my mom I won the lottery as I commented I was growing my hair out the other day. You know, I am to please.

Salon Woes

Got my haircut on Friday. I decided the asymetrical bob just wasn't for me. No one got it. All the crazy looks from people because my hair was longer on one side were enough reason for me to even off my haircut. Do you ever feel drastically inferior as a woman when you go to the salon? Two things happen every time I go to mine:

ONE I feel uber self-conscious about how I'm dressed. Why are all cosmetologists so fashionable and cute? They're all wearing leggings with cute heels and dresses. Perfect hair and makeup. I rolled into the salon at 5:30pm on Friday, tangled hair and tired looking clothes. I even wore a cute belt with my outfit for this very reason. And yet, I still didn't feel cute enough. I hate that feeling.

TWO I hold my breath and pray she doesn't realize I've been coloring my own hair. I'm sure she can tell; there's always a comment or two about how I have some re-growth or how it looks like it's about time to get my color done. This time she flat out asked if I had colored my hair recently. "Nope," I replied. "But I'm definintely due!" Oye. She know. But dang, it's over $100 every time I color my hair there. And $10 for a box of color at Walgreens. Sorry salon, you lose.

My hair's back to the same length as this summer (similar to the wedding pic at the top). I had to go back to this to fix the asymetrical bob. But I think I am going to grow out my hair. I see all the pretty girls on tv and magazines with long, long hair. I have a case of long hair envy.

Asymmertrical Bob

A superficial debate taking place in my bubble lately? To cut my hair or grow it out. That is the question.
In the last year, I've gone from being the type of girl who NEVER cut her hair - always has long, straight hair - to cutting it chin length 6 months before my wedding. Now that my hair started to grow out, I really debated which style was a better fit for my personality and lifestyle.

And what did I decide?
Both.
I haven't had a chance to take a photo of my new 'do so I found this one online of an asymmetrical bob very similar to mine. Rhianna really rocks it, doesn't she?

I'm not exactly sure what I think about this new style. It's definitely more edgy than I've ever had before. Today at work, I wore a scarf around my neck because I wasn't completely sure I wanted to bare this daring new look to my sometimes judgemental co-workers. But I can't wear a scarf forever...
If I keep it, I think I just need to rock it. Be confident of my new style.

What do you think? Too crazy or is it cute?
