Reading: "The Last Letter From Your Lover" by Jojo Moyes. I'm only a few pages into the book and keep falling asleep reading it before bed, so I essentially have to start over the next day. I tend to get hooked by a certain author and end up reading every one of their available books until I land on a dud and move onto someone else. I just finished "The Girl You Left Behind" and "One Plus One" which I loved, loved, loved.
Watching: Revenge, which is the only television show I've got a vested interest in following. It's got just the right amount of drama, romance and suspense for my taste.
Drinking: Apothic Red. I recently implemented a "one glass a night" rule for myself because I feel myself slipping down a dangerous slope of drinking too much wine in the evenings.
Writing: in a One Line a Day journal since the beginning of 2015. I'm only a few weeks in, but I hope I can keep up with it.
Thinking: about vacation plans; our trip to Sayulita next month, a girl's weekend with my sister-in-law Lindsay this spring, weekend visitors at the cabin in 2015, visiting the new babies I know being born this summer.
Listening to: "Saturday Morning Coffee" on Pandora. It's my new favorite.
Wondering: what 2015 will bring? I have this feeling lately like our family is floating to the top of a giant waterfall, ready to plunge down the other side. I'm not exactly sure what it means, but it's exhilarating and scary all at the same time.

Currently ...
... still in my pajamas (well, I was until about 11:00 this morning). I'm loving our new, not-so-busy schedule. Tory's Tuesday preschool class is finished, Wednesdays are typically my "housework" day of the week, and I'm keeping Fridays open this summer so we can scoot off to the cabin as early as possible. Today is a slow-moving day and we haven't accomplished much more than meals, books and snuggles. Love days where there's nothing pressing on the calendar. It's one of my favorite things about being a stay-at-home mom.
... thinking about tackling the massive pile of dirty clothes in the laundry room. I swear, every week I devote so much time and effort to sorting, soaking stains, washing, drying, folding and putting away everyone's laundry and the next thing I know, it's all right back where it started. Ugh. A full suitcase from our weekend getaway to Des Moines + two suitcases of Andi's dirty clothes from his work trip last week => means I should be doing laundry instead of sitting here writing this blog post.
... wishing it would warm up enough to play outdoors. It was so, so beautiful in Des Moines over the weekend and now back in the Twin Cities, it's gloomy and cold(er). Springtime is such a tease. The kids have so many cute, springy outfits I'm dying for them to wear if the weather would ever consistently stay over 60 degrees.
... loving the spring blooms on trees and flowers in my yard. After all the rain we've had lately, our grass is bright green and there's new sprouts of leaves on the bushes that separate our backyard from the nosiest neighbors on the planet. (YES!) Grow, plants, grow, and block out all the chaos happening just over the fence.
... dreaming of remodeling ideas for our lake cabin. It seems like cabin remodeling projects are all Andi and I talk about these days and it's so fun to brainstorm, imagine and see our ideas come to life. Turns out, we're heading to the lake this weekend after all, and I am dying to see our new granite counter tops, flooring and outdoor patio in person.
... gearing up for a long stretch of solo parenting. Sunday, Andi leaves for several weeks of photo shoots and I'm mentally preparing myself for being "on" 24/7. He'll be back Memorial Day weekend, which is nice, but [understandably] will be exhausted from working so many grueling hours on the road. More photo shoots and solo parenting stretches resume in June. I suppose I don't mind doing everything on my own if I have to (though, I'd obviously rather Andi were here). The hardest part is gearing up to do everything myself / doing it all solo / and then learning to let go when Andi returns home as he re-acclimates into our home life. It's always a bit of an adjustment on both sides of the departure and return.
... feeling the itch to be crafty. My fingers are twitching to create something -- like cute summertime decorations for the cabin, re-painting our dining / living room walls at home (though, this is too big of a project to tackle by myself so I'll just dream about it), starting to plan Tory's 3rd birthday party, or pulling together ideas for the family wedding shower I'd like to host for my sister-in-law Lindsay. To Pinterest I go for inspiration!

2010
I have to keep reminding myself its only January 7. In my mind, this month is already over and I've moved forward to February. Geesh! I should have no fear, there's still plenty of time to provide you my 2010 recap. Happy reading.
Here's 2009
Here's 2009
2010
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
I celebrated one year of wedded bliss with my husband. Also, we traveled to Europe for the first time.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't remember setting any official "resolutions" last year, but Andi and I did do a great job saving money and paying off bills. Yay for us! That's a big accomplishment.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Uh, just about everyone I know (except me). My friends Jessie, Shelley, Julie and Val and cousins Tara and Jen.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thankfully.
5. What countries did you visit?
Andi and I fortunately traveled to Maui in March, British Columbia, Canada in July and London and Paris in December.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you didn't have in 2010?
A baby.
7. What dates from 2010 will be etched upon your memory, and why?
July 31 - first wedding anniversary
Every weekend we spent at cabin = bliss
8. What was your biggest achievement of this year?
I had another successful year in my professional life, having the opportunity to develop national marketing and sustainability programs. I also feel like I've really grown into my marriage, becoming more enamored with my husband than I've ever been.
9. What's your biggest failure?
This year I wanted to join a small group bible study or an adult fellowship group at church ... and I never got around to it. I don't know if that's a failure, but I wish I would've accomplished both.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Andi and I stayed relatively healthy this year.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
We didn't buy it, but the cabin we rented for the summer was my favorite investment of the year. We had so many great memories there and it was, by far, the brightest spot of our summer.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My husband's. He's developed a thriving advertising agency in just over a year. I'm so proud of his dedication and commitment to his employees and his clients. He deserves every bit of success that's come his way.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I guess I would say the oil spill and whole mess with BP. It was really depressing to watch that mess go on day after day this summer.
14. Where did most your money go?
Bills and travel.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
As envious as I might have been, I was really excited for all my friends and family members who became moms in 2010. So many of their lives changed dramatically and I loved sharing in part of that experience.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
"Need You Now" and "Hello World" by Lady Antebellum
These tracks were on repeat all summer long.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you: a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
Happier, fatter, richer. I'd say it was a good year, wouldn't you?
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
I honestly can't come up with an answer to this question. I wanted to say "spend more time with my husband" but we've made great memories this year. Travel more? We've had the chance to visit some amazing places. I'm so fortunate for the year I had.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working Saturdays this fall.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Andi and I celebrated Christmas in Minnesota this year. We hosted a progressive dinner for his parents and sister on December 23, went to his grandma's for Christmas Eve and his parent's house for Christmas Day. The week after Christmas, we flew to Nebraska and celebrated with my family.
21. Did you fall in love with 2010?
Yes, I feel like I did. My love for Andi has grown so much deeper in the last year. I love being married to him; he's my best friend and I've never felt more content and more happy.
22. What was your favorite TV program?
In addition to last year's favorites (How I Met Your Mother, Mad Men and Big Love) -- The Tudors on Showtime. This show is fantastically addictive and sexy.
23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone.
24. What was the best book you read?
I read some really good books in 2010. I liked The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and The Red Tent but my favorite book of 2010 was The Help.
25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I have no musical discovery. This is not my strong suit. I listened to more country this year and found some good artists I enjoy such as Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift.
26. What did you want and get?
Quality time with my husband. I've learned how to better cope with Andi's busy work schedule and really enjoy the time we spend together.
27. What did you want and not get?
A kiddo, I guess.
28. What was your favorite film of 2010?
Watching Food Inc. really influenced the way I purchase and consume food.
29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 29 in 2010. Andi took me to breakfast at the Ivy Hotel and we toasted with screwdrivers (our favorite relaxation drink). Then he treated me to spa treatments at Ivy Spa and we made dinner at home.
30. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Winning the lottery.
31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2010?
I found jeggings in 2010 and I actually really love them. It's like wearing comfy stretchy pant that look trendy. I love them!
32. What kept you sane?
My girlfriends (I'm sure you're all tired of hearing about how much I wanted to be pregnant) and writing in my blog. My own little place on the Internet has helped me keep a journal of my thoughts and feelings and been a therapeutic outlet to express my emotions.
33. What political issue stirred you the most?
It's been interesting to watch all the politics in Washington this year. I sometimes wonder what would happen if both sides worked together to actually accomplish things instead of moving forward and repealing bills?
34. Who did you miss?
My Nebraska family and friends. I wish there were opportunities for them to come up to Minnesota and visit.
35. Who was the best new person you met?
I've developed some new friendships with fellow bloggers, some of which I feel like I know so much about. It's been get to know others in this way.
36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
I've learned to have more patience for Andi's work schedule and found more comfort in spending time by myself. This realization has given me a sense of peace and comfort like I've never experienced.
37. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years. ~Simone Signoret

Current Books: This month I read The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo and The Art of Racing in the Rain. The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo was a slow start, but I'd heard so many amazing things about this series that I kept plugging along. Eventually, it got much better and turned out to be a really good murder mystery. I just bought the 2nd book - The Girl Who Played With Fire - today so I'll have something to read over the winter holiday. On the plane ride home from Europe, I also read The Art of Racing in the Rain which is very similar to Marley and Me. It's told from a dog's perspective and he (the dog) talks about all the things that happen over his lifetime. Any animal lover will love this book and it had me tearing up at several points. The only thing I didn't like about it was the continual references and comparisons to racing because I know nothing about racing (and don't really care to). I had a hard time following those sections but otherwise, a great read.
Current Play List: I'm still loving Country this month (I'm not sure what's gotten into me!) and I've of course been listening to lots of Christmas music.
Current Guilty Pleasure: I made some homemade Chex Mix for the holidays (3 Ziploc freezer bags full) and I've eaten 1 1/2 bags by myself already. It's so good that I crave it in the morning when I wake up. Isn't that horrible? When we were little, my mom would make homemade Chex Mix during the holidays and you'd have to hurry up before it was gone. I think now that it's mine and I made it in my house, I have this obsession with scarfing it down before anyone else has a chance. I have a Chex Mix eating disorder.
Current Color: I bought this really cool green glass bottle in France and I love it. Also, love all the red Christmas decorations in my house this month.
Current Drink: I did a complete 180 this month and drank lots of Diet Coke, Red Bull and wine. It turns out, depriving myself of caffeine and alcohol last month wasn't such a good idea. Maybe January will be better.
Current Food: While we were traveling in Paris this month, I ate the most delightful croissants EVER. They were warm and flaky and buttery and just perfect. I saw on Oprah's Favorite Things show the next day she gave her audience Williams-Sonoma Mini Croissants and she said she'd never had croissants this good except in Paris. Which makes me think I need to order some of these croissants right away. I would seriously pay $40 for croissants. I'm that addicted now.
Current Favorite Shows: First let me say what a smart history buff I was when we traveled to London last week. After watching (very dutiful, I might add) the entire Tutors series I knew every inch of history about King Henry XIII. Who says watching T.V. isn't good for you? This month, I've mostly watched my sitcom shows like How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Two and Half Men and Big Bang Theory.
Current Wish list: I wish I had a new pair of boots to wear with my skinny jeans. I down right ruined my favorite pair of gray ones during our Europe trip.
Current Needs: Need "laser sharp focus" (ha ha, that's such a corporate term) to stay on task at work this month. Between vacation last week and the holidays coming up, the last thing I feel like doing at work is WORKING. Must.Stay.Focused.
Current Triumphs: I finished all my Christmas shopping, wrapping and baking before we left for Europe and I'm so glad I did. Coming home yesterday and reacclimating to everything would have been tough with Christmas only a few days away. Now I can relax and finish planning our family Christmas dinner on the 23rd.
Current Bane Of My Existence: The SNOW! I hate winter and driving around in all this stuff. I'm lazily dreaming of the cabin in the summertime.
Current Celebrity Crush: I was following any stars in London or Paris this month in a vain attempt that I MIGHT see one. But, alas, I did not. Kim Kardashian, Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera were all there.
Current Indulgence: Online shopping has been an indulgence this month. Where to you draw the line for Christmas shopping? I think my problem is, I shop and finish early and then ponder for weeks what other gifts I should buy. Do they need more? Was I fair enough? Better buy, buy, buy, more!
Current Blessing: Andi and I are truly blessed to be able to travel and see the world. I thought about that as we were gazing at the Eiffel Tower last week. I've always wanted to see it, and there I was standing before it. So fortunate to have those opportunities.
Current Outfit: I loved my skinny jeans when I was over in Europe. I found another pair at Target for $10 and they looked great with all my different outfits. I think I'll stock up on a few more pairs for the holidays.
Current Excitement: Christmas is almost here! We are celebrating the holiday with Andi's family this year in the Twin Cities and then flying home to Nebraska over New Year's to celebrate with my family. I'm so excited to see everyone. Just like the song says, it's the best time of the year.
Current Mood: Anxious for the holidays and to spend time with family and friends.

Is any else in bewilderment as to the whereabouts of November? I can't believe how fast time is flying. That's such a grandma-y thing to say but it's so true!
November was good to us; Andi and I visited my cousin Tara in Philadelphia, we celebrated Thanksgiving with Andi's family and I had a blast from past when I visited my old collegiate stomping grounds in Nebraska.
Here's what else happened in November:
Current Books: I traveled quite a bit this month so I brought by Kindle along and read a few books on the plane. I finished Kendra Wilkinson's autobiography Sliding Into Home (scholarly I realize, but I actually liked it and it was a quick, easy read). I also finished The Red Tent which I really enjoyed. This book was loosely based on the life of Dinah from the Bible, and I found it fascinating to think about the way they lived back then. I'm still reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (although I haven't made any progress with that book this month). And, I've been r am referencing sections of Taking Charge of Your Fertility this month too.
Current Play List: Still been listening to a lot of country lately. Loving Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, and Miranda Lambert. I started listening to Christmas music a few days ago too which I always love listening to as well.
Current Guilty Pleasure: Caffeine. I've been really trying to kick caffeine and alchohol this month. Alcohol seems like the easy one, but caffeine it's sooo much harder. I'll keep working on this one for December.
Current Color: Black and this just in ... gray.
Current Drink: I had a horrible sore throat Thanksgiving weekend and Andi bought me some Throat Comfort tea. That stuff was a-mazing. He added a slice of fresh lemon and it soothed my sore throat right away. What a loving husband I have!
Current Food: When I was visiting my parents back home this month, my mom made me my favorite pork chop gravy with crunchy chunks of pork chop goodness tucked inside creamy gravy yumminess. I have been craving that gravy for YEARS and it was awesome.
Current Favorite Shows: Andi and I finished the Tutors series this month and I'm so sad that my hot, steamy history lesson of a show is over. I think I'm adding Tudors Series DVDs to my Christmas list so I can re-watch them over again.
Current Wish list: My Christmas list is rapidly multiplying but also on my wish list? Another pair of Gap Jeggings. I love the pair I bought a few weeks ago and I'm definitely buying a few more pairs to take to Europe next week.
Current Needs: Health. I've been sick this month and Andi has too. Seems like all those wintertime germs are really floating around this time of year and I'm wishing for health so we're able to spend the holidays together in happiness.
Current Triumphs: The Gophers football season has finally come to a close. Thank GOODNESS! No more working Saturdays for another year. Also, I'm off The Pill this month so I feel very victorious about that.
Current Bane Of My Existence: The SNOW! I hate driving in slippery, snowy conditions and I find myself becoming a hermit in the wintertime just to avoid driving in the weather. Always takes me a few months to adjust to it all and by then, it's spring.
Current Celebrity Crush: Loving Carrie Underwood this month. And loving her smoking body too. Those legs! I think any girl would kill for them.
Current Indulgence: Andi's been making yummy banana smoothies this month. Ice cream, bananas and a Hershey's syrup. Fantastic.
Current Blessing: We're lucky enough to have some amazing trips planned over the winter months this year. Philly in November, London and Paris in December, Nebraska in December and we're working on planning a trip to the Caribbean in February for my birthday.
Current Outfit: Feeling very stylish in my skinny jeans and tall suede boots this month.
Current Excitement: My hair is finally starting to grow out. Today I was able to pull it into a low side ponytail - wahoo!
Current Mood: Ready for vacation. I'm feeling beat and ready to relax and recharge.

Currently in ...
I haven't done one of these "Currently In..." posts for a while ... so I thought I'd document how I'm feeling.
October was a fun month! Work slowed down a smidge and I had two weekends of no Gopher football games to spend time with my family and friends. Andi and I closed down the cabin, and traveled back to Nebraska to meet my new baby cousin Lauren.
Also in October ....
Current Books: I'm in the middle of a few books this month. I was given a Kindle a few weeks ago by work and it's reinvigorated my interest in reading before bed at night. I love it! It's so easy to read on and Kindle books are cheap, cheap, cheap. I'm still reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle (although I haven't made any progress with that book this month. Andi and I listened to the new Tucker Max book Assholes Finish First on the car ride home to Nebraska. It was super funny! I also just started reading The Red Tent a few nights ago. And finally, I am re-reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility just to brush up on my charting skills. Phew!
Current Play List: I've been really into country lately and streaming Taylor Swift, Sugarland, Keith Urban, Kenny Cheney and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus on Pandora Radio.
Current Guilty Pleasure: Shopping. It's something I usually do very little of (clothes at least) and this month, I've been into shoes and scarves and buying tons and tons of baby clothes for all the new babes in my life.
Current Color: Black and this just in ... gray.
Current Drink: This month I've been drinking Honest Tea Kombucha. It's a organic fair-trade drink with live active probiotic cultures. It takes good and does good things to my body. I'm into the Berry Hibiscus.
Current Food: I've been eating lots of junk food this month. Pizza, frozen burritos, nachos and burgers. Not the best news to report, eek.
Current Favorite Shows: Love, love, love television this month. Too many good shows to mention. The season finale of Mad Men was AMAZING, How I Met Your Mother mirrors our life in a major way and continues to make me smile and I'm digging The Good Wife this fall, too.
Current Wish list: I have lots of things on my wish list lately. Maybe because Christmas is around the corner and I'm keeping an eye out for things to ask for. I also wish for healthy, happy moms and babies for my cousin Jen and girlfriend Val.
Current Needs: Buckle down and save some money for the holidays and winter travels. Andi and I have a few trips we're planning for November, December, and February and the holidays are my favorite time to spoil my family and decorate my house to the nine's. I want to have some cash put away to do so.
Current Triumphs: Things are FINALLY slowing down at work and I feel like I've made it through the busiest time of the year. The holidays are right around the corner .. and then vacation ... and family ... and yummy food. I can breathe!
Current Bane Of My Existence: PMS. Why must you make me feel so roller-coastery.
Current Celebrity Crush: I'm in love with Kourtney Kardashian's long black hair. Does that count? I'm crushing on it big time.
Current Indulgence: My Kindle. It's so cool and fun to use. Love it.
Current Blessing: All the healthy, beautiful babies coming into the world. I'm beyond thrilled for all those having little ones. Also, my girlfriend Mel and her upcoming nuptials. So much to be thankful for this month.
Current Outfit: You know it ... sweats, a long-sleeve t shirt and slippers ... because it's about that time in Minnesota.
Current Excitement: The holidays! I almost died when I saw all the holiday decorations in store-front windows this weekend. Looking forward to decorating my house, the first snow and cooking turkey dinner with Andi's family and Christmas shopping galore.
Current Mood: Happy. Life is good in our little family.
Current Link: I got nothin ...
October was a fun month! Work slowed down a smidge and I had two weekends of no Gopher football games to spend time with my family and friends. Andi and I closed down the cabin, and traveled back to Nebraska to meet my new baby cousin Lauren.
Also in October ....

Currently in ....
Well, July has come and gone. Join me in saying "uh, where and the heck did July go?" This summer's just flying by ...
July was so good to me. I celebrated Fourth of July with some of my bestest friends; tested my adventure bug and tried canoeing for the first time and celebrated 365 days of bliss with my husband.
Also in July ....
Current Books: I'm still reading Animal Vegetable Miracle .... it's a cabin read for me so I pick it up a few days here and there. I also started reading The Secret Life of Bees on our vacation to British Columbia and am also picking back up my fertility awareness book and daily bible.
Current Play list: Country - it reminds me of summertime. And Green River Ordinance.
Current Guilty Pleasure: I think cuss words, sadly. I seem to have a potty mouth lately.
Current Color: Still the same - black.
Current Drink: I've been trying to drink more water lately and carrying around a water bottle has helped. There's a cool new water fountain near my office that shows how many bottles of water have been diverted from the waste stream by using refillable water bottles. It's awesome. Makes me feel good inside.
Current Food: Salsa Lisa's salsa. I don't even like salsa really, but I tried this local, all-natural salsa made in St. Paul and it's fabulous! You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. So good.
Current Favorite Shows: Oooh, Mad Men's back on and it's sooo good. We also started watching Nurse Jackie and Sons of Anarchy. New into the shows but they're indulgent so far.
Current Wish list: To freeze frame this moment. Life is all good and I'm so happy. Love my life!
Current Needs: I need focus in my job. Thirty days until the crazy begins ... and I'm not prepared. Also, I need to rejuvenate my relationship with God. Refocus and devote some time to Him.
Current Triumphs: We made it! Our one year anniversary has come and gone. Lately because we've celebrated and remembered our wedding day, I'm flooded with the feelings of how I felt that day just one year ago. I'm amazed at how much love I have for my husband. More each and every day, which sounds so clique but it's true. He is everything to me.
Current Bane Of My Existence: This humid heat. No fun for a girl w/o air conditioning.
Current Celebrity Crush: Back to John Hamm from Mad Men. Oooh Eeee!
Current Indulgence: My new Mac Book. I love how easy it makes all things Internet. And I'm learning new tricks everyday that make it better and better.
Current Blessing: My family and friends. I'm a lucky duck.
Current Outfit: Yoga pants and a yellow long-sleeve t-shirt.
Current Excitement: My parents are coming to visit this week!!! I'm so excited. We're spending some time at the cabin relaxing. Nothing sounds better than that ...
Current Mood: Tired from the red-eye flight from Vancouver. Happy to be home. Excited for my parents' visit.
Current Link: Eh, I don't really have one this month. I'm pathetic ....

Currently In June
Hello? Are you still out there ... I've been seriously stringing you along this month. I just can't seem to find the time to sit down and write to you about my life. It's summer .. and there's better things to do like boat and fish and grill and ... enjoy the sunshine! Here's what I've been up to this month:
Current Books: Last week at a work meeting, a fellow marketer gave me a book called Getting Naked. Say wha? No worries, it's about becoming transparent to your clients and it's a great read! Super easy to follow and a fast page-turner. Definitely recommend it if you're in a career that requires working with clients or customers. Oh, and I'm also still reading Animal Vegetable Miracle .. but that's a cabin read and well, haven't done much reading up there the last few weeks.
Current Playlist: Hmmmm....mostly I've been into Top 40 hits (like Justin Bieber - I'm such a dork!) and a little bit of Country too. Anything upbeat, fun and summer-ish.
Current Guilty Pleasure: This month I'm attempting, very diligently I might add, to limit myself to one caffeine beverage per day. Just forward thinking I guess to the day when I won't be able to drink 5 Diet Cokes in a day. However, the cabin (yes, getting to my point here) and all our friends are peer pressuring me into drinking waaay more alcoholic beverages than I ever do. Which has me feeling super guilty lately for fear that my future baby will somehow feel the effects of every gin and tonic, vodka limeade and Twisted Tea I drink. Oh, how challenging it is to be a girl sometimes ...
Current Color: Black, obvs., and Olive Green
Current Drink: Gin and Tonics with cucumber. Delish.
Current Food: Craving juicy cheeseburgers lately. And bacon, yummy crispy bacon. On anything.
Current Favorite Shows: This month I'm watching Next Food Network Star. We started Netflix'ing a new series called Rescue Me ... so far it's OK. Anyone have good t.v. show recommendations? Summer is a hard time to watch television ...
Current Wish list: My June wish has finally come true ... Andi's back home after his whirlwind schedule at work. This is the first week since May 17 we're both home together. It's been fantastic. Also this week, my husband's called and text me multiple times during the work day. It's like the stars are aligning! Quick, I should wish for more stuff!
Current Needs: I jonesing to see my family. We're heading home next weekend and I couldn't be more excited! It's been 3 months since I've seen all their pretty faces :)
Current Triumphs: Feel like I'm on a roll at work lately. While I've had my share of stupid girl moments this month (but hey, what's new?) I've also brainstormed some really good ideas that people actually LIKED and I think will be IMPLEMENTED and help to GROW our business. That always feels good.
Current Bane Of My Existence: Tense shoulders from lots of computer work lately. Would love a massage, preferably at my favorite spa in downtown Minneapolis. It's heaven there ...
Current Celebrity Crush: I have this ritual of waking up ... I like to set my alarm for a half an hour before I need to get up, turn on the t.v. and watch the news to gently wake up for my day. (Andi thinks I'm crazy ... he's one of those "alarm goes off and pop out of bed" kind of people). Anyway, for the longest time I always watched the Today Show and then lately, all of a sudden, I'm super annoyed with those news anchors. I find myself tuning into The Early Show which I find crazy. It's like laundry detergent to me ... how often do people really switch from one brand to another? Long story short, I'm crushing on The Early Show these days.
Current Indulgence: I'm actually really enjoying meal planning and cooking for cabin weekends this summer. It's fun to research different ideas for menus, try new recipes and see the happy faces of all our friends while they stuff themselves silly.
Current Blessing: My little niece, Brookie, is turning 3 years old on Friday!!! I'm so excited and very teary-eyed at how fast she's growing up. I can't wait to celebrate her birthday next weekend.
Current Outfit: Sweat pants and a Doors t-shirt. Hot.
Current Excitement: Fourth of July this weekend! Whoo! By the way... do you say "Fourth of July" or "Independence Day?" I heard someone saying the latter today and thought to myself how Midwestern I must be to say Fourth of July. What do you say?
Current Mood: Strangely awake at midnight. I must sign off soon ...
Current Link: Andi showed me this website the other day which I thought was pretty hilarious. Enjoy!

Currently In May (albeit, a few days late)
Current Books: I read Chelsea Handler's new book Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang in May. I like how easy reading these books are; mindless and happy. Although, I will say this book wasn't as funny as her other two My Horizontal Life and Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea? Next I'm reading Animal Vegetable Miracle.
Current Play list: Loving on John Mayer's latest Battle Studies album. Also listening to Lady Antebellum over. and over. and over. Time in the car to/from the cabin has made me rediscover some of my favorites.
Current Guilty Pleasure: I bought some Laughing Cow cheese wedges last week, but not the light kind - original. Andi's always funny about light and fat free foods so while I did it to please him, I've found myself eating the cheese with Wheat Thins. Delicious and so creamy since it's the real deal extra love-handle kind!
Current Color: Black. Again? For reals.
Current Drink: Andi and I had $30 left of wedding gift certificates at Bed, Bath and Beyond last month. Did we buy something useful for the house? Nope. We bought a hugo pitcher which we brought to the cabin and made Vodka Limeades last weekend. They were so yummy - limeade was such a nice change-up from regular, ole lemonade.
Current Food: It's happened before and I know how it ended last time. In 2007, Andi and I went to Kauai, Hawaii, bought food for our condo-style hotel and made kabobs for what seemed like every stinkin' meal. I was so sick of kabobs by the time we left there, I swore I'd never eat them again. And then Andi's mom made them for Lindsay's birthday last week ... and they were delicious ... and then we made them at the cabin last weekend .. and now I'm loving on kabobs. I should stop now but ...
Current Favorite Shows: Just finishing the 3rd season of The Tudors on Neflix. Damn good series. One more episode and then we wait for season 4 to make it to DVD. I'm sad for my "go to" night time show to end. On the upside, 30 Day Shred is next in my Neflix queue and let's face it, this workout motivation won't last long so it's best if Jillian Michaels gets here soon ...
Current Wish list: I'm reading back on my list from April and can't believe how my "wish" for extra cash to plant flowers came to fruition. I won $$ playing pickle cards and didn't have to fork over a dollar to flowers this spring. Sweet! Let's hope my wishing streak stays hot! Here's what I'm jonseing for this month...
1) wishing for stronger willpower in eating better foods at work
2) determination to stay focused on going to church (or at least listening to the sermon pod casts) this summer. I'm struggling between our attachment to church and going to the cabin every weekend this summer.
3) New paint color for our bedroom and spare bedroom.
Current Needs: While I'm not breaking down just yet, I feel the neeeed coming on to spend some quality time with my husband. Summer's are always like this - busy at work for him - but I miss spending our nights together.
Current Triumphs: You know, I've really made some progress this year in paying down some debt. I'm nearly there and it feels really good :) Couldn't have done it without good support from my husband.
Current Bane Of My Existence: Selfishly: I have two canker sores inside my mouth and they HURT so bad. When's the last time you had one of those? For me, forever. Ugh. Unselfishly: The oil spill in the Gulf. I can barely watch the coverage on TV. How horrible for the environment and the economy...
Current Celebrity Crush: Kendra Wilkinson. I know she's probably annoying to everyone else, but I find her real and entertaining. And yes I'll admit, I DVR her show on E!
Current Indulgence: The cabin. We're so privileged to have such a refuge to spend our summer. I love it there!
Current Blessing: Can you believe I've been married for nearly a year? I'm so blessed with a wonderful first year of marriage. I'm more in love with Andi today than I ever have been. So, so lucky!
Current Outfit: Black yoga pants and a tank. Love summer.
Current Excitement:
1) Couple's weekend at the cabin Father's Day weekend
2) Going home to Nebraska for little Brooke's 3rd birthday in July
3) The birth of my two cousin's babies :)
Current Mood: Anxious to get outside for a walk with Chloe, ... just as soon as I finish this!
Current Link: OBSESSED with this website: http://karaspartyideas.blogspot.com/ . Who doesn't love party ideas, especially cool ones like these?

Happy Spring! Here's how I'm feeling this month:
Current Books: I haven't read anything this month. The shame! I stopped reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility until we're a little closer to trying - I was just getting too worked up over it all, like I didn't have any control over the situation. I fell off the Daily Bible wagon as well. Missed 2 months now so I'm going to get back into the habit of devoting a little time to the Lord again on May 1. Start fresh, you know? I also want to read Animal Vegetable Miracle so those are my May book goals.
Current Playlist: I haven't really listened to any music this month, other than the regular Top 40's radio. I really enjoy my satellite radio in my car so I usually listen to the news channels to and from work. I drove to Dubuque, Iowa this month (5 hours each way) and listened to the news networks the entire way. I'm boring, I know.
Current Guilty Pleasure: Cookies. This month I've had a growing sweet tooth. I eat a sugar cookie almost daily at work and I made these Magic Peanut Butter Middles last weekend which were also yummy.
Current Color: Still loving black. Also digging cherry red and lime green.
Current Drink: Gin & Tonics and oddly enough, milk. Not together of course.
Current Food: Can't seem to get enough popcorn lately. Delicious and a super easy snack.
Current Favorite Shows: We started watching The Tudors this month on Netflix. It's seductively good. I look forward to going to bed every night to watch another episode with Andi.
Current Wish list:
1) A safe and healthy delivery for my friend Julie and her baby
2) Time (and some extra cash!) to plant new flowers in my yard
3) A new wreath for my front door like this one on Etsy. Or I might make my own ...
4) Inspiration for a new dining room table scape. I'm thinking something with herbs in clay pots, wheat grass and candles.
5) A comfy slip-on shoe like these Rocket Dogs
Current Needs: I really need my little girl Chloe to feel better. I'm worried about her - she's still not 100%.
Current Triumphs: I'm feeling really good about my job lately; like I'm making a difference. Had some opportunities this month to assist on a new sales bid (which we got!) and implemented a nationwide Earth Day campaign.
Current Bane Of My Existence: I need to lose a few pounds for the lake this summer. The time has come. I just can't put it off any longer.
Current Celebrity Crush: This month I loved watching Kate Gosselin on DWTS. I have to admit, I'm excited for her new show on TLC to start.
Current Indulgence: This month I bought 2 new pairs of boots and 1 pair of high heels which is super uncharacteristic of me! I love them; it feels good to have a few new pairs of kicks.
Current Blessing: My husband. We have so much fun together - laughing, tooling around town, making dinner together. I'm just so lucky to have him.
Current Outfit: Comfy stuff - zip up and black stretch pants
Current Excitement: We're meeting my parents, siblings and niece in Des Moines for Mother's Day and I'm really excited. Des Moines is half-way for both of us and it'll be nice to celebrate my mom and sister ... and not to have to drive so far to do it. We're staying in a hotel which will be fun too. Can't wait to swim in the pool with little Brookie!!
Current Mood: At peace. I've had a great few weeks living life - cooking dinner, talking walks around the neighborhood, spending time with family and friends.
Current Link: Still rockin' this Twitter thing. I can't tell how I feel about it all yet - doesn't seem as much fun as Facebook. So follow me at liveinmybubble - show me what it's all about!

Currently in March
I can't believe it's already March 31. Days in 2010 are just flying by and I'm scrambling to stay on top of everything! Here's what I'm feeling this month ...
Current Books: I read a few books while vacationing in Maui. First I read Precious (Push by Sapphire) and while I like the book overall, it wasn't exactly a beach read I'd recommend to others. The book was disturbing and graphic and made me sick to my stomach to think of a family treating each other that way. I still haven't watched the movie yet. I think I'd have to really be a special mood to re-subject myself to that kind of violence.
I also read The Help by Kathryn Stockard this month and I absolutely LOVED this book! The book's based in the 1960's and follows the lives of white and black women in Jackson, Mississippi (not a very good time for civil rights, obviously). I won't go into much more detail as to not spoil the book for everyone else, but I'd definitely recommend this book. A great read.
Current Playlist: Well, since I lost 2 iPods this month, my musical forte has been on the fritz although I have been listening to James Morrison, Ray Lamontagne and of course, John Mayer.
Current Guilty Pleasure: Zucchini. I know, weird right? We bought some in Maui and I thought it was just about the most delicous thing I'd tasted since I can't remember when. So I've been buying a few zucchini every week this month and adding it to all kinds of pasta dishes, quesadillas, etc.
Current Color: Black...of course.
Current Drink: Gin and Tonics. Does anyone else make roadies when they take the dog for walks in the evenings? Um, Andi and I do and Gin and Tonics have been my go-to drink.
Current Food: We've been eating lots of salads with fresh veggies on top and also Veggie Quesadillas. All about fresh organic produce lately.
Current Favorite Shows: This month I started DVRing Sober House, The Good Wife and Price of Beauty (just because I love Jessica Simpson)
Current Wishlist:
1) Steady work for Andi's business
2) Safe and happy Easter in Nebraska with my family
3) Continued sunshine and lots of time outside
4) A new, cute spring jacket
Current Needs: My tax return so I can pay off my credit card from our Maui trip.
Current Triumphs: I feel really good about our house lately. It's comfortable and cute and as spring/summer creeps in, I love seeing all of our flowers starting to bloom.
Current Bane Of My Existence: Still need to lose 5 pounds before the lake this summer. I didn't do it before Maui so now summer must be my goal.
Current Celebrity Crush: I really like Jessica Simpson in her new show Price of Beauty. I appreciate all the focus she's devoting to inner beauty and discovering different values in other cultures.
Current Indulgence: Talking Chloe for walks every day. It's so nice to spend time outside with her; she enjoys it so much.
Current Blessing: My marriage. It's so wonderful to have a supportive husband who is truly my best friend. We had a great time together in Maui and I'm thankful everyday for him.
Current Slang: Delete. Don't know.
Current Outfit: Wow. Still wearing sweatpants and a long-sleeve tee. I need to get a new go-to outfit
Current Excitement: We're going to Nebraska for Easter this weekend and I'm looking foward to seeing my family and eating lots of good food! (which consequently, contradicts my need to lose a few pounds as stated above).
Current Mood: Tired. I haven't been sleeping all that well lately and I had a really long day at work.

Currently in February
Current Books: I've fallen a bit behind on my Daily Bible the last week, but I'm pretty proud of myself overall for staying on top of this 2010 resolution. One of my spiritual goals has been to learn more about God and develop a deeper faith and I really think that's happening - which I'm super proud of myself for accomplishing. I can't believe how many instances there's been mention of something from the Bible in my daily life (whether at church or in conversation with others) and I've actually know what it referred to. The craziest part is, I never really noticed being out of the loop before. It's a wonderful feeling to strengthen my faith and love for the Lord.
Also purchased Taking Charge of Your Fertility this month. I warned Andi when I ordered it from http://www.amazon.com/ that a book was arriving in the mail and he shouldn't have a heart attack when he saw the book title. "I'm only educating myself," I said, "don't worry!" Many eye rolls have ensued this month as I've read through the book but I've really enjoyed the content so far. I find the facts and overall information on reproductivity very interesting, but it's a little frustrating to read about charting your cycles without the use of birth control when I'm still on The Pill. I'm not at the point where I can implement what I'm learning. Self, have patience.
Current Playlist: I'm slow when it comes to music; I've mentioned this before and every month I'm reminded of this as I try to recount my current music playlist. I discovered the Avett Brothers recently which I really like. I also really like Michael Buble lately.
Current Guilty Pleasure: We've had these iced Valentine's cookies at work the last few weeks and they were really good! This month I was also really craving chocolate everything (which is sooo unlike me)!
Current Color: Always my fav, black.
Current Drink: I've been making my own iced coffee at home with Starbucks VIA. Pretty tasty :)
Current Food: I'm really proud of Andi and I for eating more organic foods. It's not so difficult to purchase those types of foods now that we're shopping in the right places. My favorite food lately? KIND bars
Current Favorite Shows: Loving Big Love, CSI, 48 Hours Mystery, and of course How I Met Your Mother
Current Wishlist: Good thoughts to surround a few of my nearest and dearest - friend Julie on bedrest, wishing relaxation and a growing, healthy baby inside of her. Also for my two cousins - fertility and one who's already expecting.
Current Needs: To lose a few pounds and look smokin' in my bikini!
Current Triumphs: The national Earth Week programming I've worked on the last few months. We're ready to roll it out this week and it'll be very rewarding to see all our thoughts, ideas and hard work come to fruition.
Current Bane Of My Existence: The weather. Ready for springtime to arrive.
Current Celebrity Crush: I've had hair envy lately -- all celebrities with long, flowing locks
Current Indulgence: I had a few weekends at home lately. It's been nice to spend time cleaning my house or painting my fingernails. I'll take more of that anytime :)
Current Blessing: I'm really proud of Andi's work with his new company. I never doubted him for a moment, but I'm impressed with how successful he's become so quickly. We're truly blessed with God's good graces and I only pray the good work will continue.
Current Slang: I don't know ... I veto this one!
Current Outfit: Sweatpants and a long-sleeve tee. My fav.
Current Excitement: Andi's parents bought us John Mayer concert tickets for our birthdays. The concert's coming up on March 2. Can't wait for this date night w/ JM!
Current Mood: A little overwhelmed. Lots of projects my plate at work right now. Just need time to plug through 'em.
Current Link: http://www.uncommongoods.com/ A neat store with lots of sustainable gift options and neat decorating stuff for home.

Currently in January
Hard to believe January's nearly over! Winter's flying by and I'm soooo glad.
Here we go ... currently in January:
Current Books: Still reading my Daily Bible (which has been a challenge in itself). Lately I'm so tired at night, it's taking a good self talkin' to in order to stay with this every night. But well worth it so far. I'm learning a lot about the history of Jesus and it makes me feel good to reflect in the Lord everyday.
I also finished My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler this month. A funny book; very quick read. I was actually really suprised about all the drug use that she talks about in that book. Like it's the most popular thing happening in LA. Which maybe it is. This might be me living in my own little bubble again...
Current Playlist: Confession time. I'm really not that good at music. This month I listened to talk radio during my commute to/from work and a little Top 40's stuff on the radio. That's it. Don't I suck at this catagory? Also my iPod is MIA which makes playlists kind of difficult.
Current Guilty Pleasure: Junk food. The holiday were a slippery slope I'm still sliding down. I've probably put on 3-4 pounds in the last two months. Gotta get with it! Have to wear a bikini in a few months!
Current Color: Black, always.
Current Drink: Still diet coke and iced coffee. I bought some Sunny D this month (which I haven't had in years!)
Current Food: Still into salads. Also loving Organic Valley cottage cheese. And we've been eating a lot of pasta lately (which is sadly contributing to those pesky pounds I've put on as of late)
Current Favorite Show: Big Love is back and it's sooooo good!
Current Wishlist: For these hockey tournaments to be over. I miss my husband on the weekends :(
Current Needs: A massage. Think that's what I'm getting Andi and I for Valentine's Day. A spa day. Much needed.
Current Triumphs: Finally getting around to deep-cleaning my house. It's always gross when you dig in deep instead of weekly quick cleans. Not that my house is super messy or anything, but getting in all those little corners, base boards and the shower walls is way over due. Ick.
Current Bane Of My Existence: This new rewards program at work. It falls under my list of responsibilities and we were all set to launch two weeks ago when it was pulled at the 11th hour by our client. Taking some heat on this one and therefore, I wish it would just launch already so we could all move on.
Current Celebrity Crush: George Clooney. We saw Up In The Air last weekend. He's just so handsome and ornery. And very sexy.
Current Indulgence: Baked Ruffles
Current Blessing: My husband. He's my soulmate and somehow he choose me to be his wife. I'm so lucky.
Current Slang: Dude ....
Current Outfit: Sweatpants and a zip up. I look hot right now; bet you wish you could see. JK.
Current Excitement: My birthday! It'll be here in a few weeks. Let the celebration begin!
Current Mood: Relaxed. I love lazy weekends.
